Trips: Goa – Of Beaches, Wonderful Beaches

From old churches and temples, from lush countryside to fiery sunsets, we’d already seen some of the best that Goa could offer (of course, in such a short span of time). But, there was one more thing we still had to see. Yes, the many famed beaches of Goa.

Whilst it wasn’t planned that way, nor could it have been practically feasible, we definitely didn’t cover the vast number of beaches that Goa’s coastline has to offer the tourist. But, that’s something we can plan for the future…meanwhile, enjoy some more spectacular pics from our album.

In this album:
Amongst the less-discovered beaches of Goa, Sernabatim Beach is located in South Goa, just north of Benaulim beach. This beach reflects the beauty of nature in this wonderful state of Goa's beaches. Calangute Beach, is the 'queen of all beaches' as the largest and most popular with tourists Calangute Beach is thriving with tourists and adventure water sport lovers A parasailer enjoys the surf at the beautiful Calangute Beach (Panaromic Trim). (I think this is Anjuna Beach - but sorry, don't exactly recall now) A gorgeous view of the inviting beach, from the hillside. (I think this is Anjuna beach!)
More scenic views of spectacular beaches of Goa (Anjuna or Vagator?) Miles of clean beaches in diverse settings is what Goa is famous for A coconut palm-lined beach (at/near Miramar Beach) is a favorite with families in the afternoons. Well, this one is just me - experimenting with my photography techniques - and am quite pleased with the results :) (At/near Miramar beach)

Trips: Goa – Of Sunsets and Cruises

Our first day in popular Goa was already off to a great start, with experiences of the old churches that Goa is famed for, the beautiful Mangueshi temple (see the album here). By late afternoon and after grabbing some quick bites and refreshing cool drinks (always needed in humid conditions), we headed to North Goa, across from Panjim to witness more spectacular sights of Goa. Watching the golden sunset over the Mandovi River, Panjim, as we wait at the pier for a sunset cruise Golden sunsets, dramatic clouds and fishing boats - that's what Goa promises: and delivers - no questions! Lights begin to sparkle along the banks after sundown, as we ride our sunset cruise on the Mandovi River, Panjim Tour boats on the Mandovi River, Panjim, adorned in lights - giving that carnival touch (and shake!) to life in Goa Neon signs cast a colorful glow on the waters of the Mandovi River, Panjim Another tour boat like ours - decked up in lights - passes by (as I try hard to have a steady hand on the top deck!)
And another - though this looks a bit eerie in the pic, i'll admit! Yellow and blue tinges, reflected off the lights on a boat docked alongside the banks of Mandovi River, Panjim Lights of hotels and resorts that dot the river bank (man, it's hard to keep a steady hand on board a boat!) Lights, reflections, water, ripples - backed by music. Now, that's Goa for the photographer!
And, we head back to the pier, to wrap up a spectacular day in awesome Goa

Trips: Kerala – Kumarakom, Backwater Country (a journey ends)

From Alleypey (see last post), we began our return leg, but, first going via Pathiramanal Island – an island known for being home to many migratory birds. By that time, it was getting late afternoon, and the waters sparkled in the late evening sun…, ending with a fiery sunset – all made it a trip of a lifetime. Kerala, truly is God’s Own Country!

A fiery sunset brings a spectacular day to an end, but with memories to cherish forever

Ripples on the water
After the amazing houseboat trip on the backwaters, we headed to the last stop – Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary – before the fiery sun set on this wonderful day.
It's a bird! It's a turkey (?) The bird sanctuary is adjacent to the backwaters...and offers a tropical environment Some interesting flowers along the path... Orchid-like flowers at the Kumarakom bird sanctuary
It's a nice, loooo....oong walk thro' the woods, as you hear a variety of birds up in the trees Close-up of the water-weed plant (seen in the backwaters) Pretty white flowers Now, that's a beautiful Kerala landscape!
