CityScapes – Ferris Wheel Lights

Each summer, with the schools closed, kids in Pune enjoy their vacations, albeit probably mostly indoors to keep away from the scorching heat. However, it is also during this time, that the city witnesses the emergence of fun fairs and exhibitions, with children’s rides and games. It’s a place where families like to spend time, and play, eat and shop.

While it’s still hot then, the couple of hours that people spend here, help them enjoy and forget the heat. This year, seemingly didn’t feel that hot, and as part of my tours around the city on one weekend, I spotted one such fair along the riverside. Knowing this, it was only a matter of time, before I was keen to take my camera and capture some glimpses – and, in what has now become a favorite, I made it to the vicinity around dusk, to capture the lights of the city, the fair, and the reflections these cast on the water.

CityScapes – Neon Reflections (1 of 2)

There are those who like the rain, and there are those who don’t. Apart from the refreshing feel of the rain, there’s another aspect of it which has caught my fancy over time, especially if you live in cities and urban areas. That is the amazing reflections of neon signs and street lights on freshly drenched city streets.

It’s not easy to capture these, since the timing and ‘luck’ needed to have all the ingredients in place is quite a lot to get right! But, nevertheless, having your camera handy in the rains can be useful.

Here is a set from a visit to a city mall in the rains. Enjoy the blues, reds and yellows!

Trips: Goa – Of Sunsets and Cruises

Our first day in popular Goa was already off to a great start, with experiences of the old churches that Goa is famed for, the beautiful Mangueshi temple (see the album here). By late afternoon and after grabbing some quick bites and refreshing cool drinks (always needed in humid conditions), we headed to North Goa, across from Panjim to witness more spectacular sights of Goa. And another - though this looks a bit eerie in the pic, i'll admit! Lights, reflections, water, ripples - backed by music. Now, that's Goa for the photographer!
And, we head back to the pier, to wrap up a spectacular day in awesome Goa
