Amazing Sunsets: Pune, November 2020

One of my favorite quotes goes: “Watch more sunsets than Netflix “and it’s something I cannot resist! At every opportunity that I can get, I will not miss a sunset.

One cannot be sure of what it might turn out like, but, even if it doesn’t, it’s usually lovely, to see the journey of the sun (or, actually, the Earth we stand on), as it completes a day. Every season (hmm, well, maybe not the piercing summer here) usually offers some great sunsets, especially, as many photographer’s would agree, when the sky is also a tad cloudy.

It was on once such evening, and though, not very cloudy, as usual, with camera in tow, made my way to one of the best spots in Pune, to watch the sunset, little knowing, that what would unfold would be like none other.

Here, are the pictures of this outing – and surely, wouldn’t be the last for me. So, keep watching this space!

Cloudy skies promise a sunset to wait for... Find your inner glow... The sun eventually makes its appearance. How will it be? Is it a bird? Is it a flame? It's an amazing Sun!

The Sun's flame is a powerhouse for our Universe Birds swoop by in the spectacular glow Evening spotlight?! Picturesque reflections...

Picturesque reflections... Myriad hues of a sun... It's almost like someone turned on the light! Someone took a delicious bite, huh?

It's like an eclipse, ain't it? Very few take a moment to stop by and witness beautiful sunsets... Well, it's almost like capturing the big red planet in our solar system! Shifting hues (do you see?)

Seems like it's rolling downhill! Balancing act, shall we say? Sinking into the arms of the Earth A primary source of all energy in our solar system, the Sun is about 109x the Earth's diameter...

Picture perfect landscape! Sinking in, for a night of rest... There's so much to be grateful for in this world... Shifting focus to the sky, but the Sun yet draws attention.

The trek to the Rajgad Fort, started off with inspiring notes, and as we embarked on the trek, we continued to enjoy (and capture) amazing scenery.

I’ll be adding more of them here, as and when I get the chance, but, do have a look.

Flowers, along the trail... The beautiful flora along the trail was making it harder to leave the views and go on! An (unsatisfactory) attempt to capture the sunburst - but it turned out well after all! The fort walls seem to be getting a tad closer...

Kaas Plateau (Kaas Pathar) of flowers, Satara (2013) [Part 1 of 2]

:: Destinations – India: Kaas Plateau of Flowers (2013) [Part 1 of 2]

Situated in the Western Ghats, the Kaas Plateau and a UNESCO Biodiversity World Heritage site, is a popular place with amazing natural beauty. Every monsoon, between August and September/October, the plateau comes alive with more than 800 species of wild flowers!

We visited in 2011 (see the album here) but unfortunately, the rains weren’t adequate in the monsoon of 2012; so we passed on a trip that year. But 2013 saw a good monsoon, and so, it was time to make a visit to this Plateau of Flowers again. However, sadly, there were a few heavy spells of rain in late Sep, and the delicate flowers were apparently affected. Even though the overall blossoms were far fewer, the scenery was fantastic.

But the contrasts in the scenery are worth savoring anyways.
A macro show of a pretty little yellow flower (it's really tiny actually) A scenic vista captures the contrasts in the landscape at Kaas Plateau. Tiny, really tiny, delicate white spherical flowers abound along the Kaas Plateau this season; the monotony of whites is aptly broken by the purples :) Oh, the pleasure of lying underneath the blue sky! The Kaas Plateau is a vast expanse that blooms with wild flowers like these each year.

Looking towards the edge of the Kaas Plateau; people take in the beauty of the natural surroundings on a wonderful day. A lone ranger, this tiny yellow flower, seems to have survived the careless trampling of passers-by. [Special effect: Zooming in] Ahh - do we need to say more?!
